Dr Akwilina Mwanri

Dr Akwilina Wendelin Mwanri is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Food Technology, Nutrition, and Consumer Sciences and a Coordinator for Postgraduate Studies at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania. She has worked in various research projects, including Urban Food Systems – Mapping of Food Outlets and Green Spaces in Dar es Salaam; Improving Nutrition Outcomes through Optimised Agriculture Investments; Drivers of Food Choice; and Food and Local, Agricultural, and Nutrition Diversity (FoodLAND).  Dr Mwanri has published more than 30 articles in international peer-reviewed journals. Her research interests include maternal and child nutrition, non-communicable diseases, and food and nutrition security. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Technology from SUA (1995), Masters in Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Nairobi, Kenya (2004), and PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology from Wageningen University, Netherlands (2015).
