Dr David Dalison Mkwambisi is the Director of the Institute of Industrial Research and Innovation at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST). David has a PhD and MSc in Environment and Development from the University of Leeds and University of East Anglia, respectively. He has a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Malawi. He has worked with multinational companies including Monsanto, Pannar Seed and Unilever. He is an expert in environment and development in general and specifically in advancing innovation system management functions. He has experience in environmental education, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
David has designed and implemented several research programmes in collaboration with local, regional and global partners mostly in environment and development. He is now leading in the creation of the first University Innovation Garage, a space to support commercialisation of innovation in health, ICT, education, agriculture and agriculture. He has further designed capacity building for several stakeholders including government officials, NGOs, the private sector, and university faculty and students. David has also been involved in several urban sustainability research and development projects including eco-sanitation, urban agriculture, and urban green spaces. He is currently advancing innovation programmes among local communities and gifted children
