
Dr Sera Gondwe is a business economist in the Department of Agribusiness Management, Faculty of Development Studies, at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) in Malawi. She holds a BSc in Agriculture and an MBA and PhD in Management and Business, focusing on development finance. She has experience in training, research, and advisory work for the agribusiness sector.
Dr Gondwe is a Michigan State University Innovation Scholar Programme Fellow, who championed the establishment of a university-based co-creation space that nurtures innovative agribusiness ideas for youth in order to create jobs and wealth. She has supported faculty at Malawi University of Science and Technology as well as at Makerere University College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences in Uganda in the application of human-centred approaches in teaching and research.
Her research interests are in agribusiness financing models and market systems, with a specific focus on youth development issues. To complement her professional experiences in agribusiness, she co-owns a commercial poultry farm.
