Mr Bonani Nyhodo

Mr Bonani Nyhodo is the country node coordinator for FANRPAN in South Africa as well as a Senior Manager – Agricultural Industry Trust – at the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC). The portfolio covers the 11 agricultural industry trusts that inherited assets from the Control Boards. The approach to managing these trusts has always been to ensure that they are kept evergreen and the additional rental income or interest from investments are used to finance industry’s generic functions such as research, consumer studies, skills development, and promotions (export or domestic market).

The NAMC plays a liaison role between these trusts and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. The NAMC also facilitates the appointment of Ministerial Trustees and updates the Minister on the affairs of the.

Mr Nyhodo is an agricultural economist by education, a member of the Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa (AEASA), and also a member of the African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE). He was part of the South African team that won the inaugural Student Case Competition of the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA) in 2006. He has presented papers for each of these associations and written peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters.
