Elaine currently works as a Research Manager at the DSI –NRF Centre of Food Security at the University of the Western Cape. She is involved with social science research for the last ten years. Her research focuses on gender equality and gender mainstreaming (governance and policy) at both local and national levels, as well as governance and policy of the food system – with a focus on local government. She is also supervising postgraduate students. Elaine has worked at both the local government and local government level and has been involved in various community and local government projects. These projects aim at finding ways to strengthen relationships between policymakers, civil society and local government on different governance and policy-related issues.
