Prof. Margaret Chitiga-Mabugu is the Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the University of Pretoria. She was previously the Director of the School for Public Management and Administration in the Faculty. Before she joined the University of Pretoria, she was the Executive Director of Economic Performance and Development at the Human Sciences Research Council.
Prof. Chitiga-Mabugu obtained a PhD in Economics at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. She conducts research on economic developmental issues and is mainly interested in analysing the impact of policies on society and the economy at large.
She is a member of the Stockholm Environment Institute Science Advisory Council as well as a member of the Academy of Science of South Africa. She is co-chair of the International Technical Group of the Climate Action for Jobs Initiative and is also a member and scientific advisor of the Partnership for Economic Policy network.
