Prof. Osden Jokonya is an academic in the Department of Information Systems at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. Before joining academia, he spent more than 20 years in the IT industry. He held senior management positions in various sectors such as mining, retail, manufacturing, financial services, insurance, utility, education, and consulting. He has chaired, presented, and published papers at international conferences. Prof. Jokonya sits on several local and international committees of the Association of Information Systems (AIS). His research interest is in the adoption of industry 4.0 technologies (social media, mobility, big data analytics, IoT, blockchain, FinTech, AI, and cloud computing) in organisations and society. Currently, Prof. Jokonya is involved in digital food supply chain and logistics (food 4.0) projects in collaboration with local and international partners.
