The Food Systems Research Network for Africa (FSNet-Africa) held a three-day Research Symposium at the University of Pretoria (UP)’s Future Africa Institute in March 2022. Fellows presented their research proposals focused on various food-systems-related topics, including food waste, climate-smart agriculture, food safety, indigenous crops, artificial intelligence, and gender equality.
During the closing session of the Research Symposium, the FSNet-Africa team launched the video, “The day the FSNet-Africa league saved the African Food System”. The storyline was developed by Fellows, mentors, and UP hosts during the opening session of the University of Pretoria Summer School held online from 17 January to 28 January 2022. This was meant to showcase the role of the FSNet-Africa researchers in conducting food systems research that translates evidence into implementable policy solutions and practical interventions to support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets for Africa.
